Many have wondered how to dispose their non-UL2272 certified escooters. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has finally given us an answer. You can dispose your non-UL2272 escooter from now till 31st March 2020 for free. There are a total of 180 disposal locations. You can find them all on www.onemotoring.com.sg.

Riders are encouraged to dispose their escooters by 31 December 2019. They will get a $100 early disposal incentive if they do. However, they cannot throw non-UL2272 escooters into the rubbish bin. It is very dangerous to do that.

You can ride a registered non-UL2272 e-scooter on public paths. But only until end June 2020. After which, LTA will impound non-compliant escooters. There will also be a fine for the rider to pay.

LTA advises owners of non-compliant or non-UL2272 certified e-scooters to dispose them soon.

Also, owners can bring their non-UL2272 certified electric scooters to LTA’s Sin Ming office. They will need to pay disposal fees after 31 March 2020.

Recyclers at the disposal locations are trained to dispose the e-scooters safely.

Dispose non-UL2272 certified escooters to get $100 incentive

The registered e-scooter needs to meet certain conditions. This is for the $100 early disposal incentive. Firstly, your electric scooter must be registered with LTA. Also, it must be affixed with the LTA Registration Mark and LTA Identification Mark.

Don’t worry if the Registration Mark is damaged. Just make sure at least one legible character is visible. It must match the corresponding character on the Identification Mark. Dispose of the escooter by 31 December 2019.

The applicant must also be the registered owner. The rider needs to maintain a valid bank account number in Singapore. LTA will credit the $100 early disposal incentive into their bank account.

On top of that, e-scooter owners will have to log in to www.onemotoring.com.sg. They can do so by using their SingPass or CorpPass account. They will then need to submit their online application there.

Disposing your non-UL2272 registered escooter

Make sure your e-scooter is registered with LTA. Log in to www.onemotoring.com.sg with your SingPass/CorpPass. Go to the “Your vehicles” section. Then click on the tab of your e-scooter registration number. Then click “E-scooter Disposal”.

Complete the online application form. You will then receive an SMS confirmation. Bring the SMS confirmation, your NRIC and your e-scooter to the disposal point.

Following this, you will receive the $100 incentive within two weeks. This is after you dispose your non UL2272-certifed e-scooter.

If your non-compliant escooter is not registered

You can dispose your escooter at LTA designated disposal points for free till March 2020. However, there is no early disposal incentive for non-compliant escooters.

In addition, LTA will also implement mandatory inspection for registered e-scooters. This will commence from next April 2020.

This mandatory inspection ensures that all registered e-scooters are UL2272 certified and LTA compliant.

When you have a UL2272-certified escooter

You can register a UL2272-certified escooter at www.onemotoring.com.sgAfter that, you can order the LTA Identification Mark at www.OhMyBike.com.
